Move forward

Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. Philippians 3:13

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? Isiah 43:18

God is always moving forward and creating new things. In this process of God doing new things our past can be a hindrance. God creates a new thing, but we are focused on our past and guess what? We get an opportunity to take the test again. What is our past that hinders us? Past failures, what somebody said, how they treated us, a divorce, losing a job, pain, holding grudges, sickness, any type of abuse in your past, rejection of any kind, to name a few.

In order for us to lay hold of these scriptures and truly apprehend the new things that God has for us, we must truly FORGET what has happened in the past. I need to first deal with any unresolved issues that have a tie with a particular past event. THEN, I must forget what happened and start over with a new and clean slate. I need to forget the way it was, what was said, the wrongs that were committed as if it never happened. Too many times, fear plays a huge role as it relates to our past because we fear that it can’t or will never be any different. Jesus is the only one who can re-write our past and his word says that HE will work out all things for our good, but you must do your part and allow Him by forgetting. Your best is ahead of you, dream big !!!

We are not meant to be victims of our past, in fact, our past is supposed to motivate us to be better, to do better so we can have God’s best. Jesus is the amazing carpenter in our lives and whether He is starting a new construction job or if it’s a restoration project, remember He is with you and He has gone before and He is making the crooked places straight for the new things that HE is bringing into your life.

For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but one of power, love and self-discipline.

When your memories are bigger than your dreams, you are headed to the grave.
