I really love the image above. It mirrors a tree’s root system metaphorically. What you don’t see is more important than what you do see. It’s so important for me to invest in my personal growth and development if I want to have success. I don’t like the word success, but I use it because you identify with it. Success is a measuring stick by my title, accomplishments or how much I earn. The truth of the matter is we are all born with a unique purpose. My purpose is different than your purpose and neither is greater than the other. I am called into full time ministry, others are called to be stay at home moms, you may be a king and are called to be a channel to filter money to advance God’s kingdom, you may be called to be a entrepreneur and are gifted with innovative ideas to advance the market place, perhaps you are a leader and are to raise up a legacy in your industry. You solely are to execute your God given purpose. That is not success, it’s called destiny and money, title and accomplishments are merely a by-product. If I live intentionally to carry out my purpose then I focus on what’s most important to God and then He will do more than I can ask or think. I don’t live to make a certain amount of money or to achieve a certain title.
Why do I need a high EQ? There are many reasons, but I will give you one example. When I have a high EQ, my decisions change for the better, my motives are mature and my paradigm has shifted. Most recently I asked God to make me the number 1 sales person in my organization. I told God, if he made me number 1, then I would make him famous. You see my motive was authentic and mature. Most people want to be number 1 for money and recognition. God made me the number 1 sales person in my organization. Several years ago, I was not mature enough to be number 1 because money or success would have had me, not me having it! He did all this so you would never say to yourself, ‘I have achieved this wealth with my own strength and energy’. Remember the Lord your God. He is the one who gives you power to get wealth. Dt. 8
I started learning about EQ when after 10 years of hitting an invisible ceiling, I cried out to God and asked what was I doing or not doing that created things NOT to work in my life. What did the invisible ceiling look like? Definite cap on my income, premature tenure and missed opportunities. God began showing me what was holding me back and he started teaching me the importance of EQ. Because of my failures, which God is using for good, had me write a book on Emotional Intelligence and I get the opportunity to present it in corporate areas. The book is designed to educate individuals about EQ and as they improve emotionally, it will yield them success monetarily and in all their relationships. The uniqueness of my book not only educates you on EQ, but equips you to a healthier you. A high EQ equips you to have a prosperous soul.
